Lakeland, FL, December 7th, 2022 – OMS Group, a growing Central Florida payroll provider is celebrating its 25th year in business. To commemorate, the company plans to distribute $25,000 to non-profits by the end of the month. In the past, OMS and its employees have regularly supported local groups with food drives and toy collections, but this year they took part in deciding which local charities would receive the special anniversary gifts. Employees nominated charities through compelling submissions explaining why they thought their nominee deserved an extra special gift this year. “We’re grateful for 25-years in Lakeland and we plan to wrap up the special anniversary year by giving back to the community. OMS is fortunate to have dedicated employees who care about their work and community. We wanted to recognize all of our staff, giving them a chance to nominate their favorite charity. From the contenders, we selected ten nonprofits to receive a $2,500 donation.” said partner, Bob Cleghorn. Recipients will include: LVIM, VISTE, Noah’s Ark of Central Florida, Lighthouse Ministries, Idols Aside Ministries, Parker Street Ministries, Gospel Inc, Boys & Girls Clubs of Polk County, Lakeland Symphony Orchestra, and Linking Community Now (LKLDNOW). OMS kicked off the anniversary earlier this year by unveiling a new anniversary logo. Also this year CareerSource Polk awarded OMS with the Employer of Distinction Award for being named one of the Best Places to Work for three years in row. Their story began in 1997, when Jeff Miles and Bob Cleghorn had a vision to introduce local businesses to the services of a PEO (Professional Employer Organization). A PEO gives entrepreneurs a simple one-stop-shop for payroll, HR, and workers’ compensation. PEOs also empower small business owners with practical tools and resources to easily manage their staff. When the payroll/HR business grew to include a focus on employee benefits, Greg Sale joined the organization in 2002 to oversee that important role, and he developed a successful self-funded wellness program for local employers. Greg Sale states, “I want to motivate and inspire employers and their employees to become healthier while improving coverage and morale.” OMS added employee benefits to their PEO platform, so now with as little as 5-employees, a small business in the PEO can access excellent large group health benefits at a great rate. In 2009, OMS began offering customers a convenient online HRIS environment for managing payroll and HR functions. Then in 2010, OMS expanded its HR services by adding an online HR portal for LMS, HR documentation, and a library of trending briefs that clients could access anytime, from anywhere. In 2020, OMS partners agreed to a merger with Acentria Insurance, headquartered in Destin, FL. Acentria acquired the insurance division, OMS Insurance Group, and now maintains and supports all insurance products connected to payroll. This change resulted in more options for customers and additional growth opportunities for licensed producers. “Today, OMS still provides a boutique-style payroll and affordable PEO experience for small-to-medium sized businesses.” Jeff Miles adds, “OMS customers tend to be small businesses that feel a sense of responsibility to provide for and take care of their employees as they scale their operations.
