The Polk County Board of Commissioners approved Dale Henderson as the new Director of Polk County’s Waste & Recycling Division at their June 6 Commission meeting. Henderson was appointed by Polk County Manager Bill Beasley, and he will begin work on June 19.
“Dale Henderson’s career has spanned nearly 40 years in the waste collection and disposal industry,” Beasley said. “He has the experience and expertise to keep Polk County’s Waste & Recycling Division moving in a positive direction.”
A University of Wisconsin at River Falls graduate, Henderson began his career with Waste Management in 1982. He worked for Waste Management for 22 years, and his roles included collection services, operations of material recovery facilities and landfill operations, budgeting, staffing, equipment, technology, regulatory compliance, capital investments and strategic planning.
Henderson will conclude work as the manager of the Broward County landfill on June 16. There, he has overseen operations and development of solid waste and recycling facilities. He is a U.S. Coast Guard-licensed Merchant Marine captain and he has served on various state-level waste management advisory and task force panels.
Henderson will be paid a salary of $145,000 annually.
