Advisory groups play a critical role in Polk County’s government. Some are required by state law and others were created by the Polk County Board of County Commissioners to act as advisors in specific areas. Polk County is currently looking for a resident to serve on the Planning Commission.
The Planning Commission reviews development applications for consistency with the Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Code, compatibility to the surrounding area and concurrency. Commission members serve three-year terms and are limited to two full consecutive terms. Meetings are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. the first Wednesday of each month, in the County Commission Boardroom.
