Recently, Faith and I took a trip to Lakeside Village to try BD’s Mongolian Grill. This is the perfect restaurant for quality food and a unique dining experience. The best way we can describe this restaurant to those who haven't had a chance to visit, is to imagine a buffet and Hibachi style eatery in one place. Because of its unique atmosphere, BD’s is perfect for a quick bite for lunch, a birthday celebration, or even a fun date night experience. As soon as we walked through the doors, the aroma of spices and food from another land hit our nose. We were immediately seated by friendly staff who explained how this restaurant works. We noticed that one of our favorite parts about BD’s Mongolian Grill was when it came to ordering. Not only do you pick from their vast menu of options, but you also create your entire meal. The waitress asked us what grain we would prefer, then gave us our ticket and a bowl for the ingredients buffet. They even had accommodations for our dietary restrictions by providing the option of cauliflower rice for those of us who need a gluten-free alternative. After picking our bases, we went up to the buffet selection and were greeted with an expansive number of options for protein, sauces, and general bowl toppings. They had a variety of options including shrimp, steak, chicken and even tofu. I decided to go with shrimp, while Faith chose crab and shrimp for her protein. That said, you can mix and match to your heart’s desire. I picked out a few veggies and headed to the sauce bar where I decided that peanut butter sauce would go best with my spicy creation. The options available to you for your bowl allow for endless opportunities for fun flavor combinations. Once you are done with your masterpiece, you can set your bowl and ticket along the bar. The chef will portion out a section of the round grill for your ingredients and put on a show. If you are lucky, you might get a chance to ring the gong! For those of you who are not yet confident in your ingredient-pairing skills, you can order chef-made bowls straight from the menu. BD’s has many different selections including Thai Basil Chicken, Buddha’s Garden and Kyoto Teriyaki Steak. You can feel confident knowing that you won’t go wrong choosing any of the chef’s recommendations. If the bowls aren’t filling enough, they have delicious-looking appetizers and desserts from General Tso brussel sprouts to apple pie rolls. There is truly something for everyone.
