This show is one of my all-time favorite shows to work on with students! The characters are fun to create and allow actors to fully explore their craft by making choices to bring the story to life with body, voice, and imagination. Student designers start with inspiration from the works of Dr. Seuss and problem-solve how to bring that aesthetic to a functional stage environment. How do we grow Gertrude’s tail? How does the stage allow for the Jungle of Nool and Whoville? The writing includes many principal and supporting roles for our male and female students alike! This is critical to training the next generation of theatre artists; everyone needs a chance to grow their skills. The two distinct ensembles (plus smaller featured groups) give performers with different strengths opportunities to shine on stage. We have had an absolute BLAST working on this show, and I know audiences will enjoy watching Dr. Seuss jump from the page to the stage.MEDIA OPPORTUNITIES: Reach out to Heide Evans to coordinate media coverage at least 24 hours ahead of the visit.
