The Greater Polk County Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) is now accepting nominations for its 2026 National Philanthropy Day Awards, recognizing the individuals and organizations whose generosity and commitment have strengthened nonprofit organizations and improved lives throughout our community. The annual National Philanthropy Day Breakfast will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church of Lakeland. Breakfast will be served beginning at 7:30 a.m., with the awards program starting at 8:00 a.m. The chapter is proud to recognize GiveWell Community Foundation as the 2026 Title Sponsor for its continued support of this annual celebration. National Philanthropy Day, first established in 1986, celebrates the extraordinary impact of philanthropy and honors the individuals, businesses, foundations, and volunteers whose generosity helps nonprofit organizations fulfill their missions. The annual celebration serves as a reminder of the many ways philanthropy strengthens communities and inspires others to give back. Local nonprofit organizations are encouraged to nominate the donors, volunteers, businesses, and community champions who have made a meaningful difference in advancing their mission. Nominations are being accepted through August 14, 2026, in the following categories: Organization of the Year, Individual Philanthropist of the Year, and Young Philanthropist of the Year. There is no cost to submit a nomination, and AFP membership is not required. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are also available. Net proceeds help fund scholarships that provide local nonprofit fundraising professionals with access to educational and professional development opportunities, strengthening the nonprofit sector throughout Polk County.
