Congratulations to Kid Cafe Lakeland, our April 2026 Small Business of the Month! April’s Small Business of the Month, Kid Cafe, is a veteran-owned, family-focused indoor play space designed exclusively for children ages 0 to 4. Founded by U.S. Navy veteran Katie Clements, Kid Cafe blends a free café with a safe, engaging play environment where children can learn and socialize while parents relax, work, or connect. More than just a play space, Kid Cafe has become a community hub, offering free coffee, Wi-Fi, and a welcoming atmosphere where families can truly belong. As Clements shares, “Kid Cafe isn’t just a business, it’s a solution to a real problem,” filling a critical need in Lakeland for safe, age-appropriate spaces for young children and their caregivers. A proud member of the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce, Clements has strategically used her membership to elevate Kid Cafe’s presence and impact. She describes the Chamber as “purposeful leverage,” providing instant credibility, increased visibility, and access to meaningful relationships with other business leaders and community decision-makers. Through opportunities like networking events, partnerships, and her participation in Leadership Lakeland Class 42, Clements has strengthened her role as both a business owner and community advocate. “The Chamber gives me a microphone. A built in audience. A level of legitimacy. The Lakeland Chamber of Commerce is not luck . It is access paying off in real time." Being named Small Business of the Month is especially meaningful to Clements, who sees it as both validation and momentum. “This place matters,” she says. “This award is a checkpoint, not a finish line.” Her vision continues to focus on intentional growth, deeper community connections, and maintaining the trust families place in Kid Cafe every day. With its motto, “A TINY TOT PLAY SPOT!” Kid Cafe lives up to its promise, creating not just a place to play, but a place where families can grow together.
