Southeastern University’s (SEU) Department of Social Work invites the public to join them for their free annual community night on Tuesday, April 7, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the D’Ann Brown Conference Center located on the third floor of the university’s Welcome Center. This year’s focus is “Through the Looking Glass: Falling Down the Digital Rabbit Hole,” and is committed to raising awareness about the impact of social media and internet exposure on children and youth. The event is intended to equip those in the helping professions, parents, and guardians with practical strategies to promote healthy screen use, prevent overexposure, and better protect children in the digital age. The event will feature Screenstrong Ambassador Jan Hochstetler, along with a panel of local experts. Hochstetler is an author and retired school administrator with years of experience working closely with children and families. There will also be two free C.E. credits available for social workers, counselors, and other mental health professionals. Through this event, SEU aims to empower families and create meaningful, lasting impact in the lives of young people by making informed perspectives accessible and fostering a community of support. For more information about Community Night, please refer to the flyer attached to this release. For any questions related to the event, please contact BSW Program Director Dr. Julie Furj-Kuhn at jakuhn@seu.edu.
