Lakeland Regional Health has recently welcomed the following new providers to the medical staff. All providers listed below are accepting patients for care. Gastroenterology – Esmeralda Gonzales, APRN Esmeralda Gonzales, APRN, is an advanced practice registered nurse specializing in gastroenterology. She brings extensive experience caring for adult patients with a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions, including disorders of the esophagus, stomach, small and large intestine, liver, pancreas, and biliary system. Her clinical background includes both inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology care, with a focus on evidence-based treatment and patient education. Gonzales earned her Master of Science in Nursing as an Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner from Florida Southern College and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of South Florida. She practiced as an APRN at Lakeland Regional Health previously, providing comprehensive GI care and collaborating closely with physician partners and multidisciplinary teams. Medical Oncology – Brittany Thompson, APRN Brittany Thompson, APRN, is an advanced practice registered nurse specializing in medical oncology. She brings a strong background in acute, palliative, and procedural care, with experience supporting adult patients through complex diagnoses, treatment, and symptom management. Thompson earned her Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Keiser University. Prior to becoming an APRN, she worked as a registered nurse at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center, with experience in interventional radiology, palliative care, and acute care. Her clinical background also includes hospice and after-hours emergency care, contributing to a comprehensive, patient-centered approach. Sweet earned her Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of South Florida.
