Senior Helpers, Lakeland is proud to relaunch the “Dear Senior” Valentine’s Card Drive, a community-wide initiative that offers local businesses, organizations, and residents a simple way to give back to seniors in Polk County. The campaign invites businesses and community groups to create or sign Valentine’s cards for older adults who may be experiencing loneliness or isolation—especially during the holidays. A few kind words can make a powerful difference. “Even the smallest gesture, like a handwritten card, can brighten a senior’s day and remind them they are valued,” said Jorge Giraldo, MBA, CEO/Owner of Senior Helpers of Polk County. “This campaign gives our local business community an easy and meaningful way to show care and compassion for older adults right here in Polk County.” A Simple Way for Businesses to Make an Impact Participation is easy and flexible: Host a short card-signing activity for employees Add card-making to a staff meeting or customer appreciation event Collect signed cards from your team or clients No artistic talent required—just a heartfelt message. How Cards Will Be Delivered Valentine’s cards are being collected through February 7 and will be delivered on February 12, 13, and 14 to seniors throughout Polk County. Distribution partners include senior living communities, in-home care providers, veterans’ services, and meal delivery programs such as Meals on Wheels and VISTE, ensuring cards reach seniors who may otherwise go without a Valentine. Building on Last Year’s Success In 2025, the Dear Senior, campaign delivered more than 4,000 Valentine’s cards to Polk County seniors. The overwhelming response demonstrated how impactful small acts of kindness can be when a community comes together.
