LAKELAND, FL (September 9, 2025) | The City of Lakeland, in partnership with the Lakeland Historic Preservation Board, Historic Lakeland, Inc., and Florida Southern College, is proud to announce the 16TH Biennial Historic Home Workshop, taking place Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Ordway Building, Florida Southern College (1049 Frank Lloyd Wright Way, Lakeland, FL 33801). This free event offers a morning of expert-led presentations designed for owners of historic homes and anyone interested in preserving Lakeland’s architectural heritage. Workshop sessions begin at 8:15 a.m., with local and statewide professionals covering a variety of topics, including: Insulating the Right Way & Historic Masonry Repair Saving Historic Windows: Practical Repairs, Real Results The Basics of Building Permitting & Code Enforcement Discover Your Home’s Past Demystifying the Design Review Process In addition to the workshops, participants will enjoy light refreshments and have the opportunity to explore an Exhibit Area featuring companies specializing in renovation, maintenance, and historic home improvement, as well as City agencies and preservation organizations. At the conclusion of the event, attendees will have the chance to participate in a free guided tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed buildings on the Florida Southern College campus. Space is limited to 20 participants, available on a first-come, first-served basis. “This workshop is an excellent opportunity for historic homeowners to gain practical knowledge, connect with experts, and be part of Lakeland’s ongoing preservation story,” said Emily Foster, Senior Planner – Historic Preservation.
