TAMPA –National Louis University – Florida Campus has announced the launch of a new health career certification program specifically targeting a growing need in the greater Tampa Bay area. The new Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) program addresses the growing demand for medical assistants with clinical certification to work in hospitals, urgent care centers, specialty practices and private practice offices. “With the rate of growth Tampa is experiencing, we know the demand for knowledgeable healthcare professionals who can serve the people of this region will be strong,” said National University Provost Eddie Phillips. “And we are committed to ensuring that our students are prepared to meet that demand in ways that are beneficial to these communities as well as our students” he added. The 7 month/30-week program includes coursework and a 4-6-week externship that provides hands-on training in electrocardiography (EKG), phlebotomy, correctly documenting vital signs, and other specialized skills required for CCMA certification. Additionally, adult learners and high school students enrolled in the program will have the opportunity to earn college credits for the courses they successfully complete, as they pursue certification. The affordable, career-focused program is now accepting applications for its Fall 2025 cohort, and for a limited time, new students will receive a $1,000 tuition scholarship regardless of their income levels or current GPA. Additionally, during the externship, students receive a $1,000 stipend to help offset living expenses. “We understand the level of commitment students make while in this program,” said Anthony Spano, Executive Director of the Florida campus. “In some instances, successful completion may require cutting back on the hours they are working in their current positions. These stipends will serve as a financial bridge as students work towards their certification and ultimately more rewarding job opportunities.” The program offers students course flexibility with evening hours and online classes, general and specialized skills labs, career coaching, job placement assistance, and nationally-recognized CCMA certification (upon successfully passing the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) examination).
