Lakeland, FL – Citrus Connection, Polk County’s public transit authority, and SUN ‘n FUN Aerospace Expo, one of the largest aviation events in the world, are proud to announce a new pilot partnership aimed at enhancing transportation options for attendees and supporting sustainable access to the weeklong aerospace celebration. The collaboration will provide dedicated shuttle services and expanded transit routes between key areas in Lakeland and the SUN ‘n FUN Expo Campus at Lakeland Linder International Airport during the 2026 SUN ‘n FUN Aerospace Expo, Red, White and Blue at 52!, scheduled for April 14-19th, 2026. “This partnership is an exciting opportunity to share our joint commitment to increasing accessibility and improving mobility for the local community and visitors alike,” said Sara Roberts McCarley, Board Chair of Citrus Connection. “Whether you're a local resident, a visitor, or part of the aviation industry, getting to the second largest fly in the country just became a whole lot easier.” The enhanced transit service will include: Special event shuttles from downtown Lakeland, major hotels, and park-and-ride locations. Extended service hours to accommodate early arrivals and late departures. ADA-compliant vehicles to ensure accessibility for all guests. The SUN ‘n FUN Aerospace Expo draws more than 200,000 visitors each year and supports educational initiatives through the Aerospace Center for Excellence. The partnership with Citrus Connection strengthens community ties and ensures residents and visitors can experience the world-class event with greater convenience.
