Senior Helpers of Polk County is excited to announce its inaugural participation in the "Dear Senior" Valentine’s Card Drive. This heartwarming initiative, launched by the Senior Helpers corporate office last year, aims to spread love and joy to seniors in the community through handmade or signed Valentine’s Day cards. From now until February 7, Senior Helpers of Polk County is inviting schools, businesses, non-profits, churches, and individuals to contribute cards that will brighten the days of seniors living in senior living communities, receiving in-home care, or who are home-bound. Cards can be dropped off at Senior Helpers’ office located at 2515 Troy Ave., Lakeland, FL 33803. In addition to the collection drive, a special card-making event will be held at the Senior Helpers office on Sunday, February 11, from 1 PM to 3 PM. This event welcomes families, friends, and community members to come together and create cards while learning more about the impact a simple act of kindness can have on seniors. The collected cards will be delivered to seniors on February 12, 13, and 14 through partnerships with senior living communities, Veteran and community in-home care providers, and meal delivery services like Meals on Wheels and VISTE. "A simple card can brighten a senior's day and remind them they are not forgotten," said Jorge Giraldo, MBA, CEO/Owner of Senior Helpers of Polk County. "Loneliness and social isolation are significant challenges for many seniors, and this campaign is a meaningful way to show them they are cared for and appreciated." Last year, the "Dear Senior" campaign saw overwhelming success in other markets, with 30,000 cards collected and delivered nationally. News outlets not only covered the delivery of the cards but also highlighted the collection process as a powerful human-interest story. This year, Senior Helpers of Polk County aims to replicate that success, with a goal of collecting 3,000 cards and increasing awareness about the importance of combating loneliness among seniors. Why Participate? Combat Senior Loneliness: Many seniors face isolation, and a thoughtful Valentine’s Day card can lift their spirits. Get Involved in the Community: This is a great opportunity for schools, businesses, and individuals to come together for a shared purpose.
