CareerSource Polk is excited to announce the 2024 Fall Veteran & Community Job Fair, taking place on Thursday, November 16, 2024, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Bartow Civic Center, 2250 S Floral Ave, Bartow, FL 33830. Veterans will receive early entry at 9:30 am. This event is part of the Paychecks for Patriots initiative, a statewide effort aimed at connecting veterans and military families with meaningful careers. Paychecks for Patriots: Powered by Hope Florida will not only focus on employment opportunities but also provide veterans and their families with additional support services such as housing, healthcare, and family assistance through the Hope Florida initiative. This holistic approach ensures that veterans and their families receive the help they need beyond just finding a job. In partnership with FloridaCommerce, the Florida National Guard, the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs, and participating Florida employers, CareerSource Polk joins other local workforce development boards across the state to connect veterans with local employers throughout November. Over the past several years, more than 8,000 veterans and military family members have participated in Paychecks for Patriots events, and this year’s series continues throughout November 2024. "The diversified skill set possessed by this self-sacrificing talent pool offers immediate value to any organization extending employment opportunity resulting in an immediate return on investment," said Arthur Harris, CareerSource Polk Assistant Director of Business Services. Polk County continues to experience strong growth, and with that comes an increased demand for local talent. "We're thrilled to support both veterans, long-time residents and newcomers in finding meaningful employment," said Cristina Mazarredo, CareerSource Polk Director of Outreach & Communications. "This job fair offers a great opportunity for individuals to meet with employers who are actively hiring for full-time, part-time, and flexible positions." The job fair will host over 20 potential employers representing various industries, including IT, healthcare, education, manufacturing, transportation, logistics, hospitality, automotive, and more.
