This presidential election year, Supervisor of Elections Lori Edwards reminds voters to double check their party affiliation in advance.
Florida is a Closed Primary state. According to Florida law, voters may vote in a party's primary only if they are registered members of that party prior to the closing of registration, 29 days prior to Election Day.
“It’s easy to change your party affiliation if you want to participate in one of the major political party races this Primary election, but you must make the change before the July 22nd deadline”, Ms. Edwards explained.
In a General Election a voter may vote for any candidate, regardless of party affiliation.
Voters can confirm their registration details by referring to their new Voter Information Card, by visiting PolkElections.gov and clicking on “Voter Lookup”, or by calling the Supervisor of Elections office at (863) 534-5888.
