City Garage and City Garage Motorsports proudly announces the formation of its new ARCA Racing Team, and Lakeland driver Becca Monopoli in the # 85 car. The team will make their professional racing debut on July 19, 2024 at Indianapolis Raceway Park.
Local auto repair shop City Garage and owner Stuart Weiss have entered the world of professional racing with a new Automobils Racing Club of America (ARCA) team. As a part of the NASCAR family, ARCA has long been a proving ground for talented drivers and ambitious teams, and City Garage Motorsports is ready to take on this challenge full speed ahead. The decision to enter the ARCA series comes after careful planning and preparation, and fulfills a long time dream and passion of team owner Stuart Weiss.
"We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new ARCA Racing Team, and be based here in Lakeland," said team owner Stuart Weiss "This is a big step for our organization, and we are fully committed to fielding a very competitive team. With a talented driver, great crew and outstanding support from our sponsors and fans, we believe that we have what it takes to make a impact in the world of ARCA."
The team’s driver Becca Monopoli will be one of only four female drivers in the series, and has already found great success racing pro trucks across Florida, amassing 95 victories at tracks such as Auburndale Speedway, New Smyrna and more. She also was selected to be a part of the NASCAR race to diversity program earlier in her career. The Lake Gibson High graduate is looking forward to the new opportunities with ARCA.
“We love being a part of the Lakeland & Polk County community, and are focusing on finding local sponsors for our car to broaden the message of how great our area is as we travel the country” said CGM owner Stuart Weiss. The CGM team is going to be racing at storied tracks like Daytona, Talladega, Nashville, Charlotte and more in their first season of racing.
