Polk County nonprofit organizations and public schools felt the love last year thanks to CPS Investment Advisors’ philanthropic initiative, CPS Cares. Founded as a 501c3 to give back to the community CPS employees call home, CPS Cares has created strategic partnerships to make a tangible impact on the lives of individuals and families throughout the county. In 2023, CPS Cares supported numerous causes and nonprofits. Here are a few of our favorite highlights: Education As a steadfast supporter of Polk County Public Schools, CPS partnered with the Polk Education Foundation for Clays for Classrooms, a clay shoot fundraiser with proceeds providing essential resources and support for educational initiatives in Polk County. Polk County Public School Board’s “Focused on Excellence” campaign, which ensures school employees are appreciated and rewarded for their outstanding contributions, was supported with a CPS sponsorship. Outside of the campaign, CPS employees add a sprinkle of joy to busy administrative days by offering a sweet escape with free ice cream from the CPS Frozen Treats truck. In collaboration with Lakeland Symphony Orchestra and the Polk County Public School Fine Arts Department, CPS has also provided financial support to restart School Day Enrichment Concerts for all Polk County fifth graders to experience live, symphonic music through a field trip to one of six concerts throughout the school year. In addition to these impactful partnerships, the CPS crew started the 2023 school year by donating school supplies and uniforms to Philip O'Brien Elementary School. The Frozen Treats Truck was packed to the brim with generous donations from the CPS team. But that's not all – on a scorching hot day, they also had the pleasure of treating the dedicated staff to some well-deserved sweet treats! Healthcare K.C. Wilson, CPS’ Senior Portfolio Analyst, competed in the annual “Mr. Central Florida” fundraiser and came in first place, raising just over $45,000 for Central Florida Speech and Hearing Center. CFSHC is a premier world-class speech, language, and hearing disorders treatment facility in the beautiful heart of Central Florida and Polk County. Black swans may be rare, but have you ever seen a blue swan? Lakeland Volunteer in Medicine (LVIM)’s Swan Derby fundraiser features a blue CPS swan boat. The boat is part of a multi-year sponsorship CPS has in support of the event and LVIM’s mission to provide access to free, high-quality, comprehensive healthcare through a community of caring volunteers.
