With Thanksgiving just days away, we are taking a short break from gift giving and jumping right into some good eats! Traditionally, many families and friend groups will gather around a table filled with home cooked, delicious meals that will surely put you in a food coma before you have the chance to watch Thursday night football. But, for those of us choosing to take a less traditional route, leaving one or even two days of cooking behind, we have the perfect solution. Right here in Downtown Lakeland, we found a restaurant that has been serving up some of the freshest flavors within their upscale, historic dining spaces for quite some time. That’s right, we are talking about the beautiful Terrace Grille, housed in The Terrace Hotel right in the heart of Downtown Lakeland. Featuring breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner, and everything from their Lake mirror Benny breakfast option to their fresh Hokkido Scallops entrée for dinner, you are sure to find flavors to awaken your taste buds! However, each year The Terrace Grille taps into the holiday spirit with their Thanksgiving Grand Buffet on November 23. Now this is no ordinary buffet, and you may want to skip breakfast because Executive Chef, Patrick Baird and his team are cooking up what they call “a smorgasbord of hearty, delicious entrées that will be guaranteed to have you going back for seconds and thirds.” “We are doing turkey, no surprise. We have prime rib… We source it from Nevada, so it’s an 1855 Heritage Beef from Nevada,” said Patrick Baird, Executive Chef for The Terrace Grille. Along with the two main meat options, you’ll be able to pick from orange cranberry chutney, classic mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, maple glazed Dijon carrots and roasted Brussels sprouts to name a few! The full menu can be found HERE. Chef Baird said they will have open seating from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and walk-ins are welcome to come. “We have the whole dining room shut down for Thanksgiving. We have our whole ball room open for large tables, so we are very excited to welcome in the Lakelanders to come eat,” said Chef Baird. According to The Terrace Grille website, reservations can be made by phone at (863) 603-5420. Chef Baird told us he is new to The Terrace Hotel, and Lakeland. He says his passion for cooking has helped him create a new menu inspired by his style of culinary expertise. “I’ve been here about six months now…I’m from Manhattan, so I came here to share my culinary expertise… It was really cool because I actually ate here before I got the position as Executive Chef,” said Chef Baird. Baird said The Terrace Grille’s 100th anniversary is soon approaching, and with the beautiful space and design within its walls, Baird and his team want to make sure that they are providing a dining experience that will encourage locals as well as foodies from Tampa and Orlando to experience what Lakeland has to offer. So, how about breaking tradition this year and making Thanksgiving that much easier by booking your spot at the table at The Terrace Grille in Downtown Lakeland. And remember, come hungry!
