On November 1, 2023, Lakeland Leads will host its Panel of Experts: Empowering Through Engagement event at Catapult Lakeland from 3 to 5 p.m. This is an opportunity for Lakeland community members and business professionals to come together and learn about the ways they can positively work together with the Polk County School District to create lasting, positive change and help create more workforce-ready graduates. Over the years, businesses and nonprofits have come to realize that our future hinges on the quality of education we provide today’s young minds. This panel will highlight the impact business engagement can have on the educational landscape and showcase unique solutions to some of education’s biggest problems. “Unlock the future of our students by joining us for an unparalleled gathering of visionaries and change-makers,” states Dr. Melody Rider, President of Lakeland Leads. “Don't miss this opportunity to hear from esteemed experts who've mastered the art of community-led transformation in education. Your seat at the table is not just attendance; it's an investment in the preparedness of our next generation.” The panel will include Lori Davis, Chief Transformation Officer for E3 Alliance, Sonn Sam, Ed. D., National Director of Partnerships for Big Picture Learning, Carolyn Holly, Vice President of Development for Idaho Business for Education, and Colin Groth, Chief Advancement Officer for StriveTogether. These leaders have worked tirelessly to bridge the gap between the worlds of business and education to create tangible, lasting change. They develop innovative learning opportunities in the schoolhouse while advocating for legislative change that benefits students. They focus on the development of fruitful mentor-mentee relationships, internship and externship opportunities, healthy living, and equitable learning. Lakeland Leads is a 501(c)(3) whose mission is to engage the business community in transforming Lakeland’s public school system to produce graduates with 21st-century skills, post-secondary credentials, and workforce readiness.
