SPCA Florida is partnering with Best Friends Animal Society, a leading animal welfare organization working to make every shelter and every community no-kill by 2025, for the sixth National Adoption Weekend happening September 15-17.
No-kill means saving every dog or cat in a shelter who can be saved. A key component of achieving no-kill is collaborative partnerships like National Adoption Weekend to help get animals adopted and save more lives.
SPCA Florida is on a mission to find loving homes for lovable large canines. All large dogs, 30 pounds or larger, qualify for $25.00 off the adoption fee on Friday, September 15 through Sunday, September 17th.
SPCA Florida’s Adoption Center is open to everyone, without an appointment, Monday through Friday 11:00am-6:00pm, Saturday and Sunday 11:00am-5:00pm.

“We hope that animal lovers will take advantage of this discounted event and consider adopting a loving shelter animal into their home this year,” said Executive Director, Shelley Thayer.
Best Friends Animal Society, and more than 500 shelter and rescue partners have joined together for the national event to help alleviate overcapacity issues shelters across the country are facing. By adopting a dog or cat looking for a loving home, two lives are saved – that of the adopted pet, and another that can now take their space in the shelter. Individuals can help save lives by choosing to adopt a from local shelters or rescue groups like SPCA Florida, instead of purchasing from a breeder or store.
“We are thrilled to host our sixth National Adoption Weekend, encouraging everyone in the community to save a life and add a new pet to their home,” said Julie Castle, CEO, Best Friends Animal Society. “Even if you can’t add to your family right now, you can take steps to make the country no-kill, including spaying or neutering your own pets, fostering kittens or an adult dog, volunteering, donating, and advocating for proven lifesaving programming for local pets,” added Castle.
