Getting Down in TigerTown

Before moving to Lakeland, I had no idea that the Detroit Tigers came to Lakeland Florida for their spring training. Now, I will admit that sports are not at the top of my priority list but I do like baseball. After visiting Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium with my coworker Monica, watching a game this year is at the top of my list.

Spring Training (late February-end of March):

Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium has a variety of seating options for the Detroit Tiger's spring training games. Starting at $10 per ticket, fans can enjoy the sunshine, the green grass and maybe catch a home run ball from leftfield Berm. This general admission area feels reminiscent of yesterday’s Spring Training. Bring your blanket to sit, kick off your flip-flops and enjoy a bag of peanuts in immaculate Florida March weather. I can’t wait!

There are options with seats are available ranging from $18 to $52 per ticket. They even have a section called the “Shaded Reserve” for those looking to escape the sun and really dial into the what’s happening in the batter’s box.

Do you enjoy the lap of luxury? Try the Miller Lite ’34 Club. These seats include a shaded reserve on the 200 level down the 1st base line with access to an air-conditioned premium club. Come early to enjoy the gourmet buffet and be on the lookout for Tiger “Greats” from the past. The ticket price is $90 whether against the Yankees, Blue Jays or Rays, but space is limited as it sells out quickly.

On our tour of the Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium, we were able to see what each of the Party Area options offered. The Pepsi Pavilion, Margaritaville Deck, The Walk On’s Dugout, and CPS On Deck Suite accommodates groups between 30-100 for Spring Training and the Minor League team, Lakeland Flying Tigers. The Tigers know as they how to give you the experience of a lifetime no matter your budget.

Flying Tigers:

If you are not able to catch a game when the Detroit Tigers are in town, you can still experience the fantastic stadium after spring training is over. The Flying Tigers are a Minor League Baseball team here in Lakeland from April to September. They are the Single-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers that started in 1963 and one of the two longest unbroken affiliate relationships in baseball.

I love how the Flying Tigers tickets are so affordable. The same Spring Training seats for $50 you can have for $12. This is a casual experience perfect for a nice evening out after a hard day’s work. Fridays and Saturdays are always the most popular with the giveaways and Fireworks displays. Plus, this is the place to be for your Fourth of July celebration!

Sunday Brunch:

Let's just take a moment to talk about the Flying Tiger Sunday Brunch. Brunch and baseball? Count me in! On Sundays the ’34 Club is open for anyone and everyone! I like watching a game from the stands as much as the next fan, but if I have the option to enjoy a yummy brunch in an airconditioned space while having a great view of the field, I will give up the stands anytime!

Find your Flying Tigers tickets and Sunday Brunch experience on the Flying Tiger’s website starting in March or by calling up our friends in the sales department.

If you’re looking for a fun family outing or just an event to get you out of the house, go to Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium and see a baseball game this year. Thank you to Shannon Dixie, Aidan Starr, and Gracie Plair at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium for the fantastic tour.
