Southeastern University’s (SEU) American Center for Political Leadership (ACPL) is set to host Congressman Darren Soto for a Town Hall event on Thursday, April 6, at 12 p.m. in the Buena Vida West Auditorium on the university’s Lakeland campus. The event is free and open to the public. Congressman Soto represents Florida’s Ninth Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, which includes all of Osceola and parts of Orange and Polk Counties. First elected in 2016, Soto is now in his fourth term in Congress and has established himself as a strong advocate for the environment, hurricane relief, emerging technologies, and protection of the health and safety of his constituents. He currently serves on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and the House Committee on Agriculture. Soto is also the co-chair of the Policy of the Future Forum Caucus, vice chair of the Policy of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and a member of several others. Soto is a graduate of Rutgers University and the George Washington University School of Law, and previously practiced family law, civil litigation and real estate law.
