In honor of #EarthDay, we would like to share one of our favorite examples of sustainable construction! Station 7, located at Lakeland Linder International Airport, in Lakeland, FL, serves as both a community station and an ARFF station, effectively providing one house for two uses. Following the comprehensive GBI Green Globes Sustainable protocol, the facility was constructed with the following objectives in mind: lower energy and water consumption, reduced emissions, optimized health and wellness benefits, and minimized waste. Station 7 achieved two Green Globes ratings, and was recognized nationally as the first Green Globes certified Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Facility (ARFF) in the country, as well as the highest rated fire station at the time in the State of Florida. 🌟 It’s Awards Season! 🌟 and we’re thrilled to shine the spotlight on two of our incredible executives, Darry Dykstra and Corey Miller. 🏆 Darry Dykstra, President of General Contracting, accepted the Reader’s Choice award naming Dykstra Construction the Best Contractor in Plant City, Florida 🍓 This award, voted on by the community, recognizes Dykstra’s long standing local reputation for quality workmanship and integrity of character that Darry has continued to lead with for over 24 years. 🏆 Corey Miller, Senior Vice President of Construction Management Services & Operations, was awarded the JF Way award at the 2024 National Sales Kick Off meeting by JF Petroleum Group’s CEO, Keith Shadrick. This award recognizes Corey as a “Solid Rock Star”, who has positively contributed to the culture of the company while building a solid foundation for the new General Contracting platform. We are excited to share that we officially broke ground on the City of Apopka’s Fire Station 6! • During the ceremony, Mayor Bryan Nelson, State House of Representative of District 39 Doug Banskin, and the CEO of AdventHealth Apopka, Parker Pridgen, shared about their collaborative efforts that secured the funding and the location for this new station. Corey Miller, our SVP of Construction Management Services + Operations, remarked on his appreciation for the opportunity to build another station for the Apopka Fire Department. • Located on the southwest side of Apopka, this new 11,657 SF station will be built to the same prototype as Station 5, which we successfully completed in 2018.
